The company was founded in 1916 by Perley A. Thomas, who began renovating and building streetcars. In 1936 the company began to produce school buses. Today, that same dedication to building the most reliable, safest vehicles possible has made Thomas Built the leader in the industry.
Recently, Thomas Built Buses has opened a state of the art $40,000,000 factory to produce the Saf-T-Liner C2. It is truly an amazing facility. It features advanced robotics and manufacturing techniques that make it second to none. This new factory was featured on the Travel Channel's television show "Made In America With John Ratzenberger".
